The next decal for my car:
Bling, bling!
Picked this up last week:
This is an APR “Front Wind Splitter“, basically a carbon fiber engine undertray and front lip. Intended for a real WRX but the dimensions work for the Saabaru and since it doesn’t come pre-drilled there’s no concern about it mounting up right.
With the tranny issues it’ll probably be a while before I can actually get it installed.
If it ain’t one thing… July 20, 2007
It’s fucking another.
Left work today. I’m flying down my little go-fast road just before hopping on the Turnpike, approaching my turn, grab the shifter to downshift into second… and it doesn’t wanna go in. Back into third, make my couple of turns, stop at the stop sign. Shift 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 a few times and 2 is not feeling good at all. Pull away, go for second, no dice.
Got home ok, but no second gear is a real motherfucker in this car and who knows how much more driving I can do before whatever has messed up second messes up something else…
At least I did manage to make it a whole week with nothing broken on my car.
For Sale July 15, 2007
I’ve got a bunch of OE take-off and aftermarket Subaru WRX / Saab 9-2X Aero parts for sale. Prefer local buyers but I’m willing to ship the smaller items.
Update: Added some BMW stuff too, scan tools and a floor-jack adapter plate.
Saabarus get no love July 13, 2007
So I’ve got a busted A/C hose. No big deal, right? Wrong!
Midas guy calls me up. His usually sources for custom hoses are like “Saab? No way.”
The Saab dealer was like “9-2X? Special order. PS: Drop dead.”
I told him to call a Subaru dealer and tell them the part is for an ‘05 WRX Wagon. Unfortunately, he let slip that the part is actually for a Saab 9-2X and they told him to piss off.
Not too surprising, really. All the nearby Saab dealerships are multi-GM centers with lowest-common-denominator service, and the Subaru dealership he called is known for being staffed by jerks.
So I gave him the number for Subaru of Jacksonville, because I’ve used them before for small parts and they are good people.
Midas guy calls back. SoJAX told him to first check with a different local dealer, who did have the part in stock, and Midas’s driver is en route.
Nice.
TODO: Write letter to Saab describing how GM dealerships are destroying their brand.
